China: Yarn Growth Goes Past Shandong Border

Increase in yarn production of China has been pushed beyond Shandong province with a record new fixed asset investment entered upon China? cotton textile industry in 2005.

During 2004, and even 2005, Shandong was the center of China? growth in yarn production.

The largest textile group of China is based in Shandong. This group has successfully utilized Hong Kong? capital markets for growth.

Hebei and Guandong provinces have led the fastest expansion from August to November production of yarn with 43.4 and 41.0 percent respectively.

Thus, much of the new capacity in yarn production is coming online outside Shandong.

Eight provinces outside Shandong registered double-digit expansion during the period.

From August to November, total yarn production in Shandong has grown 37.3 percent from year ago production, reaching 1,342,000 tons; 26.8 percent of all yarn production during the period.
