China : Quota limit removal fails to daunt Tunisia & Morocco

A huge amount of Chinese textile and clothing exports is likely to get poured into the European market due to removal of quota limit by January next year. Although this might have initially been a cause of worry for Morocco and Tunisia, the countries can take a sigh of relief, now.
Starting from June 2005 to the end of 2007, Morocco and Tunisia took complete advantage of the quota system imposed on China. During the period, the countries have been adjusting their textile industrial structure, promoted their fashion brands and improved their already competent production system.
Following this, Morocco and Tunisia have been able to secure a good number of orders. In the first half of the year, Morocco textile exports to EU increased by 5 percent where as export for Tunis soared by 19 percent.
