China : Clothing, shoes, hats & textiles retail sales surge in Oct

In October, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 826.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.1 percent.
In terms of different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 559.8 billion yuan, rose by 18.6 percent over the same period of the previous year; that of retail sales at and below the county level achieved 266.5 billion yuan, up by 17.1 percent.
In terms of different industries, the retail sales of wholesale and retail trades was 689.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.0 percent; that of lodging and catering services was 117.1 billion yuan, up by 21.4 percent; that of other industries was 19.3 billion yuan, up by 5.0 percent.
In terms of different commodity categories, the retail sales above designated size of wholesale and retail trades, clothing and utilized commodities increased 24.4, 32.6 and 26.2 percent respectively.
Of which, the retail sales for clothing, shoes, hats and textiles was surging 32.6 percent; that for cultural and offices appliances, sports and recreation articles, and articles for daily use shot up by 26.3, 35.0 and 27.5 percent respectively; that for household furniture, and building and decoration materials jumped 30.5, 41.7 and 42.5 percent; that for cosmetics and gold, silver, and jewelry rose by 32.1 and 37.5 percent.
From January to October, the accumulated total retail sales of consumer goods reached 7,209 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.1 percent.
