Pakistan: Cotton Prices Remain Stable at KCA

Cotton prices are steady at KCA with the spot rate Rs2475 per maund.

Total arrivals of cotton bales as on January 15, 2006 are 11,660,748, in which Punjab has a large share of 9,249,916 and from Sindh it was 2,410,832.

From the total arrivals, exporters from Punjab purchased 11,100 bales and Sindh exporters purchased 51,900.

Mill oweners of Punjab purchased 7,218,272 and of Sindh purchased 1,739,468 bales of cotton.

Total unsold stocks of bales stood at 2,640,008 as on January 15, 2006.

Around 1600 bales changed hands at Dera Rehmat Kossa station with the rate of Rs2500 per maund, while 1000 bales were transacted at Rajan Pur at Rs2500 per maund.

New York Cotton Futures Market Closing Delivery for March and May 2006.

Opening price for March 2006 will be $55.80, high and low levels will be $55.80 and $54.50 respectively, previous rate will be $55.99 and will close at $54.56. This shows a decrease of $1.43.

While in May 2006, opening price will be $56.85, high and low levels were $56.85 and $55.75 respectively; previous rate will be $57.15 and will close at $55.79. This reveals a decrease of $1.36.

According to Cotlook Indices, A ?Index stood at 59.35 and B ?ndex was recorded at 57.35 as of January 17, 2005.
