Argentina: Cotton Exports Jump 200%

Significant rise in the export of cotton has been registered by Argentina last year. For 2005, cotton exports stood at 129,768,480 pound bales recording a massive 200 percent increase, year on year basis and the highest since 2001.

Argentine cotton finds favor with Chile's denim fabric producers who patronize it in a big way.

Chile also emerged as top destination for Argentine cotton with purchase of 42,696,480 pound bales.

Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam and Taiwan were other leading destinations for Argentine cotton, statistics reveal.
