China : Textiles, clothing, shoes & hats retail sales surge

In November, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 810.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.8 percent.
In terms of different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 542.6 billion yuan, rose by 19.2 percent over the same period of the previous year; that of retail sales at and below the county level achieved 267.9 billion yuan, up by 18.0 percent.
In terms of different industries, the retail sales of wholesale and retail trades was 682.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.8 percent; that of lodging and catering services was 110.1 billion yuan, up by 21.6 percent; that of other industries was 18.3 billion yuan, up by 3.7 percent.
In terms of different commodity categories, the retail sales above designated size of wholesale and retail trades, divided by clothing and utilized commodities increased 29.9, 29.0 and 27.6 percent respectively. Of which, the retail sales for clothing, shoes, hats and textiles was surging 48.0, 45.3 and 29.0 percent; that for cultural and offices appliances, sports and recreation articles, and articles for daily use shot up by 18.6, 31.8 and 31.3 percent respectively; that for furniture; that for cosmetics and gold, silver, and jewelry rose by 33.4 and 39.2 percent; that for petroleum and related products jumped by 5.4, 35.0 and 22.1 percent respectively year-on-year.
From January to November, the accumulated total retail sales of consumer goods reached 8,019.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.4 percent.
