Icelandic clothing manufacturer 66° North, which specializes in outdoor clothing, is planning to build its own factory in China. Part of the company’s clothing line is already being produced there.
Chairman of the board for 66° North Sigurjón Sighvatsson told Morgunbladid that the company aims at having most of their production at their own factories, which affords better oversight as well as production management and quality control.
Sighvatsson added that the company’s current factories in Lithuania will continue to operate.
The turnover of 66° North doubled between 2005 and 2007 and the estimated turnover for 2008 is ISK 2.5 billion (USD 38 million, EUR 25 million).
