Three textile parks will be set up under Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) in Gujarat; one at Ahmedabad and second in Surat, informed Union Textile Minister Shankersinh Vaghela.
By setting up such parks, state? textile industry will get impetus in terms of economic growth and adding news jobs. With up coming three new textile parks, total number of parks will go up to five.
He also said that Rs100 crore will be invested to establish textile plaza at Jahangir Mill compound in Ahmedabad, and two closed mills, Ahmedabad and Rajnagar will be duly restored.
Meanwhile, he also confirmed the closure of two other National Textile Corporation (NTC) mills and offers of Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for the mill workers.
Vaghela added that India? exports to the US have grown 25 percent to $17 billion from $13.5 billion, and to Europe by 18 percent.
Rounding off, the Textile Minister said that he wants to restore Ahmedabad? image as Manchester of India.
