Nike, one of the world's leading shoe makers, said the company plans to expand its global presence, including China and India, the world's two most populous economies, according to sources.
The shoe giant sees China a key market for sustainable growth as the shoe market is faster than its home base or in Europe.
"So far we are just scraping the surface in China. Chinese consumers' incomes are rising, and the importance of sports is also increasing," citing Charles Denson, Nike Inc.'s brand president.
He disclosed that Nike is now shifting its focus from China's major cities to medium-sized cities and western Chinese regions.
