The Spanish government has approved more than ?00 million three-year aid plan to help the country's clothing and textile industry, which has been suffering from strong international competition in the past years, in particular from India and China.
The Cabinet has approved a series of specific measures on the part of both Ministries are including in the 'Plan of Support to the Textile Sector and the Preparation', decided with the social interlocutors, industrialists and unions, and that will sign the next week.
In particular, the Social Ministry of Work and Subjects destine ?40 million to equip a program with aids with support, directed to finance the labor measures necessary to correct and to compensate the effects of the liberalization of the textile commerce and to palliate the difficult situation by which it crosses the sector, one of those of greater tradition and importance for the Spanish economy, specially in certain territories, and that affect to 150,000 workers in all the country.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce will make available of affected a total of ?70 million in credits and direct aids, destined to improve the competitiveness and to impel the enterprise weave in the territories with greater presence of this industry.
