This year, two students were rewarded with a five-day trip to Shanghai, to attend ITMA ASIA+CITME 2008 in July, where over 160 Italian companies will participate. This experience will no doubt allow these students to get a first-hand look at the very best Italy and the world have to offer in textile machinery. Two scholarships worth 800 Euros each were also awarded to the other eight students.
The awards ceremony, at which the professors who assisted the students in their research were also present, falls into the ACIMIT Foundation’s program to establish increasingly important relations with educational institutions providing training for the textile sector in Italy.
This collaboration is not merely limited to the awarding of scholarships, but also foresees the realization and distribution of a series of publications to students, the technical handbooks, illustrating the state of art of the technology characteristics inherent in the Italian textile machinery industry (a sector employing 20,000 people, with revenues of 2.8 billion Euros for 2007).
After having completed the five technical handbooks on spinning (wool and cotton), weaving, knitting, ennobling and chemical fibers in 2004, the ACIMIT Foundation has just published a sixth handbook dedicated to non-woven fabrics.
This latest handbook, as for the previous ones, will be translated into English, Chinese and Arabic, so as to be distributed at major textile schools and university faculties abroad.
