China: Hebei Province Plants 6,133,333 Hectares to Grain

Hebei Province, located in the North China Plain, has planted record acreage of 6,133,333 hectares to grain in 2008, resulting in record consumption of agricultural inputs. The Ag Ministry reports significant increases in consumption of chemical fertilizers, phosphate fertilizer, pesticides, plastic membrane, as well as other inputs. Cotton acreage in the province reached 666,667 hectares
