Same day deliveries are being offered by a brace of retailers online today in a last-ditch attempt to maximise full-price sales.
Lingerie brand and retailer Agent Provocateur was offering a UK same day delivery service for all orders placed with its personal shopping team by 1pm today, with a guarantee that the merchandise would be couriered between 6 - 9pm this eveing. A charge of 20 was being levied for the service, which was being offered in London, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.
Net a porter was offering a London premium service with the guarantee that any order placed within the M25 by 10.00am would be delivered today. And a virtual gift voucher service was being offered by many online retailers where shoppers could have a gift voucher emailed to a chosen receipient. ASOS was offering a service where shoppers could choose a style and add a message, upon which a voucher would be emailed.
In the last shopping day before Christmas, levels of online service have been considerably enhanced from 2008 as etailers strive to combat terrestrial retailers, many of which have been slashing ticket prices this week.
