On August 27, a major cold front moved into the Xinjiang Province, sending rain and wind through much of the northern cotton belt. High winds and sandstorms were forecast for South Xinjiang. Temperatures also plummeted. This weather system should clear out by August 30; however, it could impact both yields and quality, given the crop is open and picking has already started.
