International trade has been strained ever since the beginning of 2008, especially affecting the textile industry in China.
Fortunately, many textile companies in Shishi city, Fujian Province have realized that investing in science and technology and R & D will help them open up the global market.
Thus, now 40 universities are cooperating with 120 domestic textile enterprises, so as to help them develop high quality products that attract bigger clients.
This will increase the number of textile firms involved in R&D and promote advanced equipments. This will help them to overcome the lack of scientific and technical talents in the country.
The project will also focus on promoting newly developed products in domestic as well as international market.
The experts pointed out that this is a good way of raising competitiveness in domestic and global markets.
They stressed that the enterprises which have been able to survive depending on backward technology and low added-value products would be ultimately diminish.
Besides, now Chinese Government has also recognized its importance and is increasing the investment in scientific and technical innovation.
