CPC Corporation based in Taiwan has delayed the start-up of its No-5 naphtha cracker, located at Kaohsiung. The total production capacity of this plant is 500,000 tons per year.
Fibre2fashion spoke to Mr S.H.Chu, Vice President CPC Corp who said “main reason for delaying and reopening of No 5 naphtha cracker is due to less demand of down stream product in market.”
He continued “Products such as ethylene and propylene are having quite less demand in market. So we have decided to delay the startup of No-5 naphtha cracker by 7 days to 10days.”
He added by saying that “this is minimum delay as of now and it may further get delayed as per market conditions. Earlier it was scheduled to restart on September 29, 2008."
