Domestic Cotton Markets Re-Open Rather Weak

China's domestic cotton markets have further weakened over the National Day Holiday. Poor offtake by mills and tight credit have caused growers and merchandisers to maintain small inventories and to quickly move cotton lint, resulting in a downward slide in lint prices. In Hubei Province, Grade 3 lint sold down to 12,300 - 12,400 yuan per ton, with the national average landed-the-mill price at 12,691 yuan on October 6. Despite the weak prices, merchants and gins continue to complain about mill credit terms. Prices are generally 25 to 400 yuan per ton lower than those before the holiday.
