China: Shangdong Weiqiao Confront the Crisis

Under the impact of global financial crisis, the international and domestic market demand for textile was droping. Shangdong Weiqiao Group confronted this crisis through optimizing product category and developing high value-added product to go through the difficult time. Up to now, Weiqiao has developed 1631 news products. 730 of them were under mass and order-oriented production. According to Zhang Hongxia, the General Manager of Weiqiao, the current situation was stable. The production and selling was balanced. Its 160,000 employees wer still in their position with confidence for this company. In the first 11 months of 2008, the sales outturn revenue reached more than 70 biilion RMB yuan, up 16% on the same period of previous year.
