Hong Kong: Twin fashion fairs open from next week

Fourteen fashion shows and eight special topic seminars are among the highlights of Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2009 and World Boutique, Hong Kong 2009. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the twin fashion fairs will open on Monday, 12 January at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
More than 1,350 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions will take part in this year’s Hong Kong Fashion Week. World Boutique will showcase more than 460 brands and designer labels from over 270 exhibitors coming from 15 countries and regions.
The 32nd edition of the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) will take place on the opening night. This year, 19 finalists will compete for four awards: Overall Winner, Casual and Jeans-wear Group Winner, Contemporary Day Wear Group Winner, and Party and Evening Wear Group Winner.
Top models taking part in the show include Rosemary, Ana R and Mikki Yau. Renowned international designers Ennio Capasa, Head of Design for Italy’s CoSTUME NATIONAL, and Keita Maruyama of Japan’s KEITA MARUYAMA, along with seven local industry leaders, will sit in the judging panel.
