According to the latest forecast from General Admisnistration of Customs, the export in 2008 was expected to accumulate into 2550 billion USD, up 18% on the previous year. The favorable balance could reach 290 billion USD. While the export decline might last some period. Based on the current economic situation, the export growth rate in 2009 might go below 5%.
The General Admisnistration of Customs also gave its comments on the forecast: followed by the moving of financial crisis to substantial economy, the shrinking demand from abroad restrains the export. The export scale would further decrease. While the reduced overseas order impacts the import demand from processing trade, plus the price drop of international raw material, the domestic economy growth would slower down. Thus the drop of import could be evident than that of export.
