China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textile (CCCT) is on behalf of China textile industry to declare their opposition of any monitor or restriction meatures for Chinese textile and garment from the US government.
NCTO released a press on March 16th to ask the US government to take action to monitor textile and garment import from China.
According to CCCT, China is one of the largest textile and garment manufacturers in the world. For a long time, Chinese textile and garment have been under the most strict quota system. Since the Sino-US textile agreemenet expired at the end of 2008, the quick growth of import from China in January 2009 should be regarded as normal. The US side said 10 categories?? prices of the total 12 categories had gone down, but it is not ture. The data from US Commerce Department show the prices of nine categoreis from China increased, only a few decreased.
The fact tells us any monitor or restriction couldnot stop the increase of the US import from other countries. The trade protection has negative impact to the economy not the US, but all the world.
