During the first three months of the year 2009, gross industrial output value of Shaoxing's textile industry was 39.65 billion yuan; sales 39.26 billion yuan; and profit tax 2.06 billion yuan.
Shaoxing Commission of Commerce works out the industry performance in the first three months this year. According to the results, the output of chemical fibre, garments, printing & dyeing fabric saw year-on-year growth: The chemical fibre output was 0.669 million tons, up 29.7% year-on-year; garments 0.12 billion units, up 5%; printing & dyeing fabric 3 billion metres, up 2.7%. Volume of trading of Shaoxing??s top three markets also saw year-on-year growth: The volume of trading of Keqiao Light Textile Market was 15.33 billion yuan; Shengzhou Tie Market was 0.51 billion yuan, up 4.5%; Datang Light textiles Sock Market 1.94 billion yuan, up1.6%.
The state and Shaoxing??s government have published a series of policy for textile industry to help producers cope with the paper-thin profit margins squeezed by slacking market demand. First-quarter data already shows a little recovery.
