Women's wear Jorya opened its first flagship store at the Beijing Oriental Plaza recently, with a catwalk show to demonstrate the brand's girly-cute spirit.
A highlight of this season's collection is the princess skirt. Pastel shades of yellow, blue and brown dominated he stage. One long skirt was patterned with small blue dots but the basic white color helped retain the overall look of simplicity. A dark folded skirt caught the eye but even here the use of silk helped keep the "light and simple" feeling.
These skirts are no minimalist creations and some, in fact, are decidedly humungous. All have high waist-lines and in one two-layered creation, the waistline went higher than the bust. The decorative use of feathers is designed to convey a message of "being young, passionate, cute and lovely."
As for accessories, the collection has no belts and few necklaces and bracelets, besides small handbags. Nearly all the models wore no earrings and they used light make-up.
Overall, the collection is a combination of the fairy tale and modern, with the idea being to dress like a 21st-century princess.
