According to the Development and Reform Commission of Haian, Jiangsu Province in May 27th, the sales income of industry economy in this city reached 43,67 billion yuan in the first four months of 2009, up 17.7% from the same period last year. The major reason for the stable development of Haian industry during such a global financial crisis is its strong traditional industries including textile and machinery.
Haian is a typical textile town, with 223 statistic-worthy textile mills (whose annul output beyond five million yuan), accounting for 26.6% of its total statistic-worthy enterprises. Those textile mills had realized sales income 3.19 billion yuan from Jan. to April this year. Lianfa Textile Group invested nearly 100 million yuan to develop new products. Its color-weaving fabric is leading over the world and all its products are export-oriented. The sales income of Lianfa in the first four months was 480 million yuan, with profit 46.82 million yuan, 10.18 million yuan more than that of last year. The order in April amounted to 9.95 million meters, breaking its historical record. In the latest list of top 50 textile enterprises from China National Textile and Apparel Council, three came from Haian. They are Lianfa Textile Group, Huaqiang Group and Nantong Shuanghong Textile Company. Lianfa even ranked in the top three.
