The Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) here Wednesday to establish a platform for cooperation between them.

"Taiwan is ranked as the sixth largest textile supplier in the world, while India is one of the major global exporters of apparel, therefore the market competitiveness of the textile industries in both countries will benefit from cooperation between the two sides, said TTF Deputy Secretary-General Frank Hsu at the signing ceremony.

Hsu signed the MOU with his AEPC counterpart Vijay Mathur at the India International Garment Fair in New Delhi. Taiwan's representative to India Weng Wen-qi, the leading economics official at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in India Leon Lee and other TTF officials were also present.

The MOU allows for visiting delegations from each country to access the resources of the other, in areas such as infrastructure and promotional materials.

In an interview with CNA, Mathur said he hopes the two organizations will continue to push for further bilateral cooperation and exchanges to enhance awareness of each other needs.
