According to Customs Data, the export of textile and garment in Shenzhen accumulated to 9.58 billion USD from Jan. to July, down 11.8% year over year.
The declining trend is continuous in July. There were signs of recovery of export in April and May. The growth rates were 1.2% and 1% respectively in those months. But it turned to negative in June as -6.5%. For July alone, the growth rate was -27.7% from a year ago. The general trade accounted for 70% of the total export. The share of processing trade decreased quickly. The general trade export was 6.92 billion USD, down 12.9%; while processing trade was 1.71 billion USD, down 19%. The export to the US increased 15.7% to 1.1 billion USD, but to EU down 10.1% to 3.14 billion USD. The export scale also decreased. From Jan. to July, the number of export enterprised reduced 271 to 10961. Only 155 of them made export value beyond 10 million USD, 28 less than a year ago. This indicated that export companies hadnot grown stronger under the impact of global financial crisis.
