The popular movie Transformer 2 arouses the childhood memory of the generation after 1970s. But to Zhou Long and Xu Weidong of Meters/Bonwe, it is a feast of business opportunities.
Since the publishment of Transformer 1 in China in 2006, these two people had the idea of cooperation. However, as the company was busy sponsoring the reality show My Hero at that time, they had no choice but to postpone the idea. In late 2008, Meters/Bonwe decided to begin the cooperation during the shooting of Transformer 2. But Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, the copyright holder of Transformer, had never heard of Meters/Bonwe before, and neither did they know about Jay Chou who presents the brand. Meters/Bonwe did not give up but tried many means to contact them.
Gradually, the two companies became interested in the company. At the end of 2008, during the visit to Shanghai, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura was attracted by the logo of Meters/bonwe and this indicated a turn of the better. Later, manager of Hasbro Asia and responsible of Hasbro Shanghai visited Meters/bonwe at different time. Finally, Meters/bonwe was authorized as the exclusive brand cooperative partner of Transformer series clothing in China. There are also embedded advertisements showing around the world in Transformer 2. The Transformer toys can also be found in Meters/bonwe's stores. The specially designed Transformer series clothes are in hot sale. Meters/bonwe is satisfied by the market feedback. During the period of slack sales in June and July, the sales had a double-digit growth compared with the same period last year.
