Silk garment exports to Italy record growth

According to Chinese customs statistics, from January to July, China’s exports of silk garments totaled to 52.04 million sets, export value amounted to US $703 million, down 30.14 percent and 21.94 percent, respectively, year on year.
Average unit price stood at $13.5 per set, up 11.75 percent year on year. Silk garment exports accounted for 75.5 percent of total export value from manufactured goods based on silk fabrics and 1.23 percent of China's total garment export value.
The US remained the largest market of China's silk garment exports, accounting for a market share of more than 40 percent. From January-July, China’s exports of silk garment to the US completed 22.05 million sets, down 34.45 percent.
Export value to the US reached $286 million, down 30.44 percent, year on year, average unit price stood at $12.95 per set, an increase of 6.12 percent year on year.
China’s silk clothing export to Italy realized 3.15 million sets, up 3.63 percent year on year, and was the only market to register an export volume growth. Value of exports reached $47.59 million, down 8.92 percent year on year, with an average unit price of $15.12 per set, down 12.12 percent year on year.
Main export provinces and cities of silk garment manufacturing are Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Sichuan. Exports from Zhejiang accounted for nearly half of China’s silk garment exports, from January to July.
