One of the top 10 fashioner designers in China, Canming Liu is very excited about the opportunity to represent Shanghai, one of the two Chicago sister cities in China.
"I felt very honored when the Shanghai municipal government invited me to join this sister city program. I was here last year and they liked my designs very much. So I came back again this year," he told Xinhua.
Talking about China's fashion industry, Liu said, "We started late but we are making rapid progress. I am very happy to bring China's fashion to the world."
Yingying Yang came to the United States from her hometown near Shenyang, another sister city of Chicago, when she was only 12 years old. She owns her designing house now.
"I am very honored to be in the show this year representing China. Being a Chinese, we have lots of culture heritages and I like different people from different cultures," she said.
This year's mistress of ceremonies is Linda Yu, one of Chicago's most respected and well-known Chinese-American broadcasters and anchor at ABC-7.
