The mid-size apparel manufacturer Sankyo Seiko Co. of Japan plans to expand the presence of its Daks stores in China by 20 to 30 percent, by the end of current year.
In tandem with establishing a shop in a commercial building in Shanghai in the month of May, the company aims to set up stores across China, at places such as in the inland city of Kunming, Yunnan Province, and in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, in Northeast region.
These projected stores will house high-end clothing for both, men and women, with goods such as jackets for 70,000 yen (US$751) and scarves for 20,000 yen. For instance, luxury brands including Gucci and Tifany would be available within the store planned for Harbin.
The Daks store in Chengdu, Sichuan Province has been creating a substantial annual business of 700 million yen. Around 90 percent of Daks brand products that are being purchased in China are manufactured in Japan, and the rest in Europe. The company aims to swell the European production up to 30 percent in part to capitalize on a weaker euro.
