The Second China Garment E-commerce Summit Opens

On 27th, May, the second China garment e-commerce summit opened in Hangzhou. According to the statistics released at the summit, garment online sales increased 97% in 2009 compared to the same period last year. The market scale expanded from 15 billion Yuan in 2007 to 64 billion Yuan in 2009. The market scale is expected to expand to 115 billion Yuan with a growth of 80% in 2010.


This summit is organized by Hangzhou municipal government and Iaskchina.cn. According to the 2010 on line shopping survey conducted by iaskchina.cn, a large number of famous garment enterprises opened their flagship stores at Taobao.com. Moreover, they cooperated with garment sellers at Taobao.com so as to develop their online distribution channels.

On the one hand, the rapid growth of online sales attracted more and more traditional garment enterprises to explore their own online markets. On the other hand, consumers are enthusiastic about online shopping. According to the survey, clothes especially women’s clothes are the most popular commodities.
