China-Chile Free Trade Agreement of the Supplementary Agreement on Trade in Services is imposed starting from August 1, 2010, according to the agreement from 2011 zero tariff will be imposed on the most of products export to Chile, the tariff preferential has boosted the bilateral trade growth.
In the first half of this year the export value from Quanzhou to Chile grew by 42% to 11.63 million U.S. dollars, according to statistics from Quanzhou Inspection and Quanritine Bureau.
China-Chile Free Trade Agreement started from October 1, 2006, since then zero tariffs imposed on 74% of Chile imported products from China, for most other products it will impose zero tariffs by 5 and 10 years later, 3% as exception remain the same tariffs for both sides.
Shoes are the amin exported products in Quanzhou to Chile, Chile depends on imports of most of daily necessities, with reduction of tariff more and more Chinese shoes will flow to Chile, which is regarded as an important export market for Quanzhou products.
As zero tariffs imposed on products exported to Chile the footwear enterprises may consider Chile as stage to sell their products to elsewhere in South America.
