Footwear exports in Sichuan increase in value and drop in price

More and more foreign buyers shift their footwear orders from the cities of Guangzhou, Quanzhou and Wenzhou to Chengdu, since 2004 Sichuan footwear sector maintains the growth rate of 55% in exports. The exports for the first half of this year surged 79.89% to 337 million U.S. dollars, however unit price for footwear dropped almost half compared with that in the end of last year, according to customs released data.

Improving the quality and the added value become top priority for the provincial footwear industry, a meeting was called on August 10 for updating footwear quality and improving added value. The local government also offers varieties of services for enterprises to support the industry to increase the added value of footwear in exports
