Germany: High prices, low turnovers in cotton market

Write: Kitty [2011-05-20]
As most of the domestic spinning mills are in works holidays, turnovers in the past fortnight remained very limited. Mill buyers who still wanted to purchase cotton for this year saw themselves confronted with high prices and a reduced choice.
Offers for shipments from the new crop were priced clearly lower. As a consequence turnovers remained selective because interested parties acted cautiously in the expectation of falling prices.
In the Upland range were traded: Central Asian cotton for the end of the 3rd quarter 2010; West African and Syrian styles for the end of the 3rd quarter and for the 4th quarter 2010; Greek descriptions for the 4th quarter 2010 and for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2011.
The sales in fine-/extra fine cottons were limited to Israel Pima for prompt and USA Pima for shipment in the 1st quarter 2011.
