US fashion retailer American Apparel has become the latest store to expand into Leeds.
The retailing giant, which has opened 225 stores in 19 countries since it was founded in 2003, is to launch a 5,500 sq ft store in the city next April in a deal brokered by Leeds-based property consultants King Stur-ge. The new store is expected to create between 15 and 20 jobs.
American Apparel, was founded in Los Angeles and already has stores in Nottingham and Manchester.
It sells a range of men's, women's, children's, and even dogs' clothing and accessories, including 'ethical' T-shirts.
The head of King Sturge's In-Town Retail Team, Jonathan Newns, a partner, said: "Securing American Apparel is another scoop for Leeds which will create new retailing jobs as well as adding to diversity in the city centre.
"We are continuing to target recognised national and international retailers as we know that several strong brands are keen to secure representation in one of the UK's top retail locations.
"All these recent lettings, to high-quality names, are good news for Leeds and underline its strength as a shopping destination even in a tough economic climate."
