The California Strawberry Commission has updated its strawberry app for iPhone and iPad, adding recipes and tips on nutrition for children and adults.
The free app can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/aEIItn.
The November update of the software first offered in January includes 50 new recipes, boosting the total to 100. The additions are taken from a vari-ety of food blogs that the app links too, said Carolyn O'Donnell, communications director at the Watsonville, Calif.-based commission.
The recipes can be shared by e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. Many are aimed at children, in line with the update's focus on healthy eating, O'Donnell said.
"We wanted to expand on the nutrition information we had in there," she said. "Each nutrition tip is by some top dietitian you'll recognize from the Food Network or places like that."
Registered dietitian Dave Grotto, author of "101 Optimal Life Foods," is among those who provided tips.
An Android version of the app will be made available close to Christmas, O'Donnell said.
