Cloud computing gives power to e-government efforts

Microsoft and Chengdu Cloud Computing Center on Tuesday conducted in Chengdu a demonstration of the origin sourcing system for pork quality guarantee, the first E-government project in China. The system has been installed to cover the major areas of Chengdu and its coverage will soon be expanded to the whole of the city to make it possible that local residents could trace the source of the purchased pork according to
the information printed on the receipt.

The expansion of Chengdu Cloud Computing Center will be completed by the end of year, and its application to E-government will include the management of population, geographic data, industrial and commercial registration,credit records and supervision of hazard sources.Chengdu Cloud Computing Center, the first large-scale Cloud computing center in the Chinese mainland, was launched in Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone late last year.
