The logistics department of Chengdu municipal government said Tuesday that the city planned to create a comprehensive modern transportation system in the coming years and further consolidate its status as the transportation center in western China.
Head of the Offi ce of Logistics of Chengdu municipal government Chen Zhongwei said at 8th Forum of Chinese Logistics Entrepreneurs and 2010 Annual Conference of China Logistics Enterprises the same day that the goal will be achieved in 2015, when Chengdu will make it China's fourth largest air traffic freight hub, the largest rail line logistics center and highway logistics center and possess a complete inter-city goods distribution system.
He said that Chengdu had started flight lines to 37 cities in foreign countries and the city will add some 15 international lines in five years.
