Chengddu launches power grid upgrading project

The city kicked off its massive power grid upgrading project on Wednesday with a ceremony to celebrate the operation of a 220-kv substation in southern Chengdu.

The project, called the Soaring Project, will involve an investment totaling over RMB25 billion to upgrade the substations, electric circuit and strengthen the production capacity to signifi cantly increase the production and improve the capacityload ratio of the grid network of the city.

The project is believed to be of great importance to the economic development of Chengdu and to the city's drive to make it a world-class garden city.
