Organizers of the 2011 Chengdu Temple Fair said on Monday that the temple fair, which closed a day earlier, won wide-spread acclamations and they had received invitations from several foreign countries, including the UK and Australia, to hold the temple fair in the countries of the inviting parties.
Sponsored by Chengdu municipal government, Chengdu Cultural Bureau and the government of Wuhou District, this year's temple fair staged a great variety of programs, including performances by local and overseas artists, lectures and exhibitions. It attracted a total of 1.2 million visitors during the 21-day period.
The temple fair also caught attention from the media in China and overseas. Aside from the reporting from China Central Television, newspapers in HK and Macao SARs, Thailand, Malaysia, the UK, the US and some other countries reported the event.
