Chengdu honored for balanced development

The government of Chengdu received an award at the 5th China Xiaokang (well-off society) Forum, which was held in Beijing on Dec. 5, for its "exemplary contribution" in achieving the balanced development in the city's urban and rural areas and its measures for public welfare.

The forum is an iconic conference to signify the central government's dedication to bringing China into a well-off society and this year's event themed "public services and balanced development of urban and rural areas". Awards conferred at the forum went to cities with remarkable achievements in balanced development, education, public services, government services and cultural advancement after strict evaluations by a panel from the central government departments and academic institutions.
