peach Blossom festival to highlight sustainable development

Chengdu municipal government said at a press conference on Thursday that the 25th Chengdu International Peach Blossom Festival was to be opened in Longquanyi District in eastern Chengdu on March 18.

The festival is sponsored by the municipal government and Sichuan Tourism Department. The district boasts a large number of orchards of peach trees and is one of best peach blossoms sightseeing sites in China and a tourist attraction of the city in early spring when thousands of people come to view the blooming peach flowers.

Programs of the festival for this year, including forums, exhibitions, photos shows and art performances will focus on representing the compatibility of environment protection in the district and its achievement in promoting the development of modern industry, especially the auto manufacturing.
