According to world.ccaon.com, after the depression of 2009, the chlor-alkali industry is recovering gradually and facing an important turning point in 2010. Under the current circumstances, the overall economic environment has shown clear signs of recovery and some experts even say the petrochemical industry will recover to pre-crisis levels.

According to the latest statistics, in the first quarter of 2010, the total national production of PVC reached 2.635 million tons with an increase of 20.2% compared to that of last year; the total volume of caustic soda reached 4.879 million tons with an increase of 22.5%. Meanwhile, the production of calcium carbide crude salt and alumina paper also experienced substantial growth in recent months.

According to the achievements of chlor-alkali listed companies in the first quarter, most companies have turned from deficits to profits. However, compared to the PVC market, the recovery of the chlor-alkali market has been slow, though it has seen an increase in production. Due to the stocks in northwest areas, the chlor-alkali companies still need to speed up their management reforming and operation optimization.

What s more is that, the chlor-alkali industry still needs to pay attention to production release. If the companies enlarge the production scale too fast, they will break the balance of supply and demand of the market and cause a heavy stock. Therefore, 2010 will be an important turning point for the chlor-alkali industry to adjust the market and improve its competitive strength.
