Alibaba begins business in Brazil
Alibaba.com, China s biggest business-to-business web group, has officially started operations in Brazil. The company says the country shows huge potential for growth. Feng Ling has more details.
After 11 years development, Alibaba has become the world s largest business-to-business website. In 2009, the Hong Kong-listed company added 9.7 million new users. It now reaches 48 million people, including 150 thousand from Brazil. The company says there is huge growth potential there.
Timothy Leung, Sales Director, Alibaba.com, said, Brazil, one of BRIC countries, has a big market. It is a good basis for us to explore the South American market.
Alibaba has appointed Ludatrade Technologies as its agent. Ludatrade will assist Brazilian clients getting familiar with the practices of the Alibaba platform, and deal with cultural and language difficulties.
Ma Biao, CEO, Ludatrade Technologies, said, Through our platform, Brazilian sellers can find nearly 50 million potential buyers in 240 countries and regions in the world. We hope 50 to 80 percent of Brazilian exporters use our platform.
Alibaba is well known in Asia for matching up buyers and sellers on its web platforms, which operate in Chinese, English and Japanese.
