China becomes GM's largest single market in the world

President and general manager of General Motors (GM) (China) Investment Co., Ltd Kevin E. Wale stated on April 12 that China has become GM s largest single market across the globe. To continuously maintain the leading position within China, GM will input 25 new car models in China in this and next year.

In 2009, in the situation of car sales significantly declining in the US and European markets, the sales of GM and its joint ventures within China hit a new record high to more than 1.826 million units, with its sales in China ranking the first for five consecutive years among the global car manufacturers. In the first quarter of this year, sales of GM and its joint ventures within China amounted to more than 623,000 units, hitting a record high in the quarter sales. Kevin E. Wale deemed that excellent performance in the Chinese market has exerted an important role in improving GM s global business.
