U.K s Superdry firm steps up expansion
Superdry fashion firm SuperGroup has announced it has increased its already impressive expansion plan by opening a record number of stores abroad during the last quarter.
Subsequently, sales at SuperGroup, which claims to be one of the fastest growing fashion retailers, grew by 68.4% to 57.5 million between August and October, compared with 60% between May and July.
The retailer opened a record 14 overseas franchise stores during the three-month period, including its first in the United Arab Emirates, bringing its total foreign outlets to 49.
It also opened eight stores in the UK and a further 13 concessions in House of Fraser department stores.
The company announced it planned to open more UK stores in the weeks before Christmas, including one in Manchester's Trafford Centre, one in Westfield Centre in London and a 15,000 sq ft store in Glasgow.
The business began life on a market stall in Cheltenham more than 20 years ago but floated nearly a third of its worth in shares in March to fund growth - triggering a huge windfall for directors, which include founder Julian Dunkerton.
