In January and February of 2010, Chinese investors made a direct investment in 693 overseas enterprises at 89 countries and regions, accumulative non-financial overseas direct investment USD 4.66 billion, all exceeding that in the first quarter of 2009. And the turnover of contracted projects overseas rose by 17.8% year on year to USD 9.38 billion. The total value of newly-signed contracts amounted to USD 18.7 billion, down by 21.3% year on year.
Turnover by region: Asia USD 4.56 billion, up by 18.4% year on year, accounting for 48.6%; Africa USD 3.81 billion, up by 35.7% year on year, accounting for 40.7%; Latin America USD 0.29 billion, down by 36.8% year on year, accounting for 3%; Europe USD 0.51 billion, up by 12.6% year on year, accounting for 5.4%; Oceania and North America accounting for 1.3% and 1% respectively.
Value of newly-signed contracts by industry: communication & transportation development USD 5.09 billion, accounting for 27.2%; power USD 4.27 billion, accounting for 22.8%; housing construction USD 3.85 billion, accounting for 20.6%; petrochemical USD 3.53 billion, accounting for 18.9%; manufacturing and processing accounting for 3.9%; telecommunications accounting for 1.5%; water supply and drainage accounting for 1.5%; and others accounting for 3.2%.
In January and February of 2010, the turnover realized in overseas labor service is rose by 6.2% year on year to USD 1.37 billion; the newly-signed contract value is rose by 9.2% year on year to USD 1.3 billion. And in the two months, the labor number of persons dispatched overseas is 48.5 thousand, increasing 7.4 thousand year on year; by the end of February, the number is 768 thousand, increasing 57 thousand year on year.
