China s retail sales up 18.3 in June

China s retail sales were RMB 1.23 trillion in June this year, up 18.3% year on year, said the National Bureau of Statistics today.

Total retail sales in urban areas rose 18.7% year on year to RMB 1.07 trillion last month, while retail sales in rural areas rose 15.9% year on year to RMB 161.5 billion.

Retail sales in the catering industry grew 17.7% year on year to RMB 140.5 billion in June, while retail sales of consumer goods rose 18.4% year on year to RMB 1.09 trillion.

The retail sales of grains, edible oil, beverage, tobacco and alcohol jumped 25.4% year on year to RMB 55.8 billion, and retail sales of garments, shoes, hats and textile products rose 26.6% year on year to RMB 41.3 billion.

Last month, the country s retail sales of automobiles increased 28.3% year on year to RMB 131.6 billion, and its retail sales of home appliances and audio and video equipment stood at RMB 32.6 billion, 23.4% more than in the same month of last year.

In the first half of this year, the country s retail sales totaled RMB 7.27 trillion, 18.2% more than in the corresponding period of last year.
