The disposable chopsticks, bad meal boxes, and cooking oil which do not meet health standards once again sounded the alarm bell for Beijing catering enterprises. Yesterday, six catering related organizations in the capital city jointly issued the "low-carbon living and green catering" initiative. These organizations plan to create 100 state-level green catering enterprises in Beijing and the disposable tableware enterprises, aiming to raise the overall level of development of Beijing catering trade.
According to media reports, the activity was sponsored by the National Working Committee of Green Hotel, China Hotel Association, International Food Packaging Association, the Beijing Food Industry Association, Beijing Cuisine Association and the Beijing Western Food Association. The whole process of the setting of the standard energy-saving stores is as the following: firstly, the candidates should apply for and carry out self-examination according to national standards; secondly, experts examine the candidates work and make their on-site assessment; lastly, certification will be enacted.
Li Weiwei, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce, said that the Beijing municipal government in this year will strengthen the scientific assessment of the food procurement, production, and consumption. It will also carefully implement the food safety policies of the municipal government at the same time. The municipal government will also select at least 20 catering enterprises for the trial of the building of energy-saving stores.
