Wuliangye Triggers New Price Rise

Moutai, the leader in Chinese white liquor industry, increased its prices with an average of 20% before the Spring Festival, according to reports. Such a move made Moutai dealers quite excited as consumer demands had already surpassed its supply. After the Chinese traditional holiday, price rise continues in the industry but now Wuliangye is the boost. Supermarkets in Beijing, such as Wal-Mart and Ito Yokado, have raised the price of Wuliangye from 50 to 100 Yuan and they say they have got notice from Wuliangye Group to increase the price.
Price rise of the two giant white liquor producers will make other brands follow suit, industry insiders predict. Jiannanchun Group has sent out 10%-price-rise notice and other famous brands also hinted at price increases.
